On July 21st – The second day of the competition was all business. They started with the Impromptu Challenge, a public speaking event where the students were asked to deliberate and speak on a single topic. With only one minute of preparation, the students were pushed to think quickly on their feet. It’s a good thing Team Ghana has been preparing for this for months!
After a quick tea break, they continued with the Speech Craft Challenge. Here they teamed up and went toe to toe with their opponents, debating their side of the chosen topic. They were given only a few minutes to research, prepare their speeches, and organise with each other to get their message across.
After another wonderful lunch at the park, they were met with their last challenge of the competition; the Pen Down Challenge. Even though this challenge was the longest, time flew by quickly as each team had to research, organise, and write down a fully formed essay. They were given an open-ended prompt and allowed full control of their creativity to write up a masterpiece. With that, they concluded their challenges and eagerly awaited their results.
